Another Year Older, Another Year More Me

Birthdays used to make me think about all the things I wanted to change.
I'd make lists of goals, promises, and plans for the person I hoped to become just like your typical New Year's resolutions. I'd tell myself that this would be the year I finally lost the weight, became more confident, took more risks, or stopped worrying so much about what other people thought.
And while there's nothing wrong with wanting to grow, I've realized something as I've gotten older:
The greatest gift I've given myself isn't becoming someone new.
It's learning to appreciate who I already am.
The past has taught me that confidence isn't something that magically appears one day. It's something you build every time you choose yourself. Every time you wear the outfit. Every time you take the picture. Every time you stop apologizing for taking up space.
I've learned that my worth isn't measured by a number on a scale, a clothing tag, or how closely I match someone else's idea of success.
I've learned that life is too short to save the good clothes.
Too short to wait until I'm "ready."
Too short to spend another year wishing I looked different instead of appreciating everything my body has carried me through.
This year, I'm celebrating more than a birthday.
I'm celebrating growth.
I'm celebrating friendships that feel like family.
I'm celebrating lessons learned through challenges.
I'm celebrating the memories made, the goals achieved, and the dreams I'm still chasing.
Most importantly, I'm celebrating myself.
Not the version of me I hope to become someday.
The version of me that exists right now.
The one who is still learning.
Still growing.
Still dreaming.
Still showing up.
As I step into another year, my goal isn't perfection.
It's presence.
To be present for the adventures, the laughter, the milestones, and even the messy moments.
To wear the outfit.
Take the trip.
Try new things.
Say yes more often.
And continue building a life that feels authentic and joyful.
So here's to another trip around the sun.
Another year of growth.
Another year of confidence.
Another year of becoming more and more myself.
And honestly?
I think that's worth celebrating.
