My Top 10 Comfort Movies

Everyone has those movies.

The ones you've seen a hundred times.

The ones you can quote without trying.

The ones that somehow make a bad day a little better.

These aren't necessarily the greatest films ever made.

They're simply my comfort movies...the films I reach for when I need familiarity, nostalgia, laughter, or a reminder that everything is going to be okay.

10. Crazy Rich Asians

The fashion.

The food.

The family drama.

The romance.

This movie is visually stunning and somehow manages to be both glamorous and heartfelt. Plus, I would happily spend several hours admiring the wardrobe alone.

9. Miss Congeniality

Sandra Bullock pretending to be a beauty queen while remaining an absolute disaster is endlessly entertaining.

And let's be honest, "I'm gliding here!" will never stop being funny.

8. Men in Black

Aliens.

Dry humor.

A talking pug.

What's not to love?

This movie somehow remains just as fun now as it was when I first watched it.

7. Son in Law

I know this movie isn't for everyone.

I don't care.

It makes me laugh every single time.

It's ridiculous in the best possible way, and sometimes that's exactly what a comfort movie needs to be.

6. The Princess Diaries

The makeover.

The awkwardness.

The friendship.

The romance.

Young me was convinced this movie might somehow reveal a secret royal heritage.

It has not happened yet, but I'm still holding out hope.

5. Easy A

Smart, funny, and endlessly quotable.

Emma Stone absolutely shines, and this movie gets funnier every time I watch it.

4. FernGully: The Last Rainforest

This movie shaped an entire generation of environmentally conscious kids.

The animation is beautiful, the soundtrack is fantastic, and it still hits me right in the nostalgia every time.

3. Earth Girls Are Easy

Is it weird?

Absolutely.

Do I love it anyway?

Also absolutely.

The cast alone is reason enough to watch it, and it feels like a colorful fever dream in the best possible way.

2. Practical Magic

If I had to choose one movie that perfectly captures my aesthetic, it might be this one.

Magic.

Sisterhood.

Tea.

Midnight margaritas.

An incredible house.

This movie feels like a warm blanket for my soul.

1. Howl's Moving Castle

Nothing else was ever going to be number one.

The animation is gorgeous.

The story is magical.

The characters are unforgettable.

Every time I watch it, I notice something new.

It's comforting, whimsical, romantic, and hopeful all at once.

If I could live inside a movie, there's a very good chance it would be Howl's Moving Castle.

And honestly?

I think that says a lot about me.

Looking at this list, I've realized my comfort movies have a few things in common.

They're funny.

They're a little weird.

They're full of strong women, magic, found family, adventure, and people learning to embrace who they are.

Which feels oddly familiar.

Maybe the movies we return to aren't random after all.

Maybe they're little reflections of the things we love most.

And if that's true, I'm perfectly happy being the woman whose favorite movie involves a wizard, a moving castle, and a fire demon.
